Point of View

Have you ever walked in a forest with no path? In the heat of the day? With the humidity so thick it is hard to breath? That is what I had to walk through today and let me tell you, it sure is depleting! Sweat was just pouring off of me in buckets, bugs were biting me non-stop, and I cut myself who no knows how many times with sticks, thorns, and random brush! All this to say – the start of my journey has definitely not been the easiest (Not that I expected it would be) 😛

Anyways, it was during my walking that I found myself actually thinking that the forest was beautiful. Weird right? I just spent my energy writing all the problems I had today and then I say the forest is lovely? Well, think about it. The abundant life, the sunlight filtering through the leafy canopy, the flowers, and the rhythmic sounds; it truly is beautiful.  So even with all the “problems” I encountered in the forest, the forest as a whole is beautiful. This got me thinking that this principle applies to more than just a forest. Just by taking a step back in any kind of situation, and seeing the circumstance from a different point of view, we may be able to see a bigger picture in the making. So rather than focusing on the problems and the pains, we can appreciate beauty that it is or that it is becoming. It reminds me of the verse in Revelation 21:5 – And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Before it got too dark, I also looked up 2 Corinthians 3:18 where it reminds us that “all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord–who is the Spirit–makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.” This happens through a variety of ways, but one way in particular being trials – “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anythingJames 1:2-4.

I wish I had more time to write but the light disappears fast! I guess I will have to start writing earlier in the day! 😀
